JMW is in the house

We created this handsome toolbag for creative types to safely hold precious paint brushes and pencils when they head out for inspiration. It could just as easily be used for markers and pens, or anything else that needs a safe home while you are on the road.

JMW - THE ARTIST’S TOOLBAG

NEW FROM MILL MADE

JMW - the artist’s toolbag is crafted from an upcycled windmill sailcloth from De Palmboom windmill in Schiedam. The sail was no longer strong enough to keep whipping around in the Dutch weather, but perfect for being made into something useful and handsome by the clever clogs at Mill Made.

JMW was commissioned by the Dordrechts Museum Shop in celebration of the exhibition Water and Light. Highlights of the Yale Center for British Art on display in Dordrecht until to 14 June 2026. Exhibition highlights include paintings and drawings by the English master, JMW Turner.

It is made of soft, yet sturdy fabric so it can easily be rolled up for safe stowage.

Only 13 artist’s toolbags have been made from the single sailcloth, and each one is unique as a result of the varying weather patterning on the canvas during its earlier working life.

By upcycling this windmill sailcloth, we have saved another piece of otherwise gorgeous textile from unnecessarily going into landfill.
