Have you ever wondered how we get from a working sailcloth to a gorgeous Mill Made product?
STEP 1
is preparing the sailcloth for production.
Our good old-fashioned quick unpick seam ripper might be small but it really does the job of removing the ropes from the cloth and the metal hooks. We are careful not to damage either the cloth or the rope.
This makes the cloth easier to handle, since it is much lighter without the rope.
This is how it starts
The original sailcloth from De Middelste Molen in Cabauw. All very neatly rolled up for us
Sewing tools are sewing tools
The magical Quick unpick is a marvellous tools, no matter what the textile project you are working on
STEP 2
is removing years of weather by giving the cloth a good wash. This makes the fabric much cleaner and ready to cut. (You know what a washing machine looks like, so we haven’t included a photo of that)
Craftsmanship
Such respect for the craft of the sailmaker
STEP 3
we make gorgeous things from the prepared cloth such as Willem - the cushion, Evergreen Conny - the shopper and the original Conny - the shopper
