This handmade, limited edition book protector is a special memento of Schiedam’s living windmill heritage.
It is made from a sailcloth that hung on one of the windmills from Schiedam, most likely as part of the 2007 celebrations across the Netherlands for the Year of the Mills.
After all the festivities were over, this sailcloth was replaced with a traditional brown one.
Only 21 book protectors have been made from a single sailcloth, and each one is unique. Choose your pixelated patterns in a range of blue, yellow, black, red, white, and more.
It has been perfectly designed to snugly and safely hold an A5-sized sketchbook or notebook. Perfect for keeping your own creations safe. But any book roughly these dimensions will fit.

We named this item after the very crafty Domien Akkermans from Restauratie Werkplaats Schiedam who knows everything there is to know about restoring windmills
Materials & care instructions
Upcycled pvc/polyster windmill sailcloth canvas, tied up with Hempex rope
To clean just wipe with a damp cloth. Not suitable for washing machines. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean. Do not iron. Do not bleach
Book has thread stitching, flexible and durable straight linen spine, premium pasteboard cover made from 100% recycling paper, excellent and easy opening with lay flat behaviour, made in Germany and EU. Natural white sketch paper with a medium surface featuring 100/120 gsm, 2x volume, lignin and acid free, age resistant according to ISO 9706, no chlorine bleach, manufactured without OBA, resource friendly with premium pulp from sustainably managed forests. Ideal for all dry techniques, excellent pigment bond, also suitable for paintbrush drawings.
